Lochaber Lake Cottages Review
So I just got back from this cabin on Lochaber Lake in Nova Scotia. The cabin was gorgeous, and the location was stunning. Kayaks, fishing, hot tub, the whole works. But things took a weird turn when I took a nap on the bed after my arrival and found a pair of women's underwear stuck to the blanket. Yeah, you read that right. I was disgusted and reached out to the host right away. The host was mortified, he said “I’m not saying this didn’t happen, but I clean those cabins myself, with my wife” He apologized and said he was going to come talk
to me tomorrow to come make things right. I’m hoping they were washed with the bedding, I didn’t dare to investigate any further.
But things only got more awkward from there. The next day a man showed up to the cabin next to us with his large dog off-leash, (cabins on the property have an on-leash rule for dogs) and it didn't go well with my husband's 10 year old Pitbull. The man kept yelling “don’t worry, he’s friendly” and claimed his dog was fine, but it was clearly upsetting our dog. It followed us closely across 2 acres of property. My husband had to literally pick up our dog and carry her into the cabin because the mans dog wouldn’t leave her alone. It took off once she was inside. The man went to talk to my husband and my husband told him to leash his dog, he said "It's okay, I'm the owner." Um, what?
The host then apologized saying his dog usually stays by his side, and then he began to tend to the hot tub, acting like nothing was wrong. He didn't mention the underwear situation at all. It was bizarre.
Despite the weirdness, the cabin was beautiful, and the location was amazing. But seriously, what the heck? If you're going to rent out a cabin, maybe make sure the bedding is clean and you follow your own rules.

Would I recommend it? Maybe. If you're okay with potentially finding random underwear on the bed and dealing with a host who doesn’t follow his own rules, then sure. Otherwise, maybe look elsewhere.
